On Saturday, April 18, 2015, 9 am – 2 pm, Fletcher alumni and friends are invited to join New York Cares and more than 4,000 volunteers for New York Cares Day Spring: a day dedicated to cleaning up parks, community gardens, and public spaces throughout the city. Volunteers will clean up shorelines, restore garden beds, plant flowers and trees, paint benches and remove invasive species. By the end of the day, 70 parks and community gardens across the five boroughs will be transformed. See our pics from last year when we cleared an empty lot for a community garden in Cypress Hills, Brooklyn.
In what’s becoming an annual tradition, the Fletcher Club of New York has registered a team for New York Cares Day, and we’d love to have you join us.
We have requested our Fletcher team to be assigned a site in Manhattan, but final details will not be available until April 7. You can register through the Fletcher Club of New York New York Cares Day page until April 13. New York Cares asks volunteers to pay a $25 registration fee* to participate, and also encourages additional fundraising (optional). For those interested in bringing their families, please do! Children 12 and older are invited to participate.
If you have any questions about New York Cares Day or how to sign up, please visit their FAQs page. If you have questions specifically about the Fletcher Club of New York’s involvement, please contact Sarah Hahn at sarah.hahn[at]alumni.tufts.edu.
We look forward to uniting the local Fletcher community and giving back to our beautiful city!
